Startling the baby

So yesterday after work I hopped onto the bus home all bundled up like a 2 year old with an over protective mother. I started to unzip my coat and sweater and I accidentally poked my stomach just to the side of my incredible outtie belly button. To much of my surprise and the baby’s surprise I had woken her up with that simple gesture. You may be wondering how I know that I had woken her from a deep slumber. Well… when I poked my stomach she instantly moved, now this wasn’t a normal kick or body flip that she still occasionally tries- this was a “I just got dumped into a freezing, glacier filled lake” movement… Think about it for a minute- the gasping, startling movement that would create. She jumped from where she was at hip level to under my ribs- her whole body. It was funny, but I did feel a little bad :p

She’s kicking so strong now and sometimes we’ll play games together- one is her kicking my side- me then trying to push back while she kicks the other side of me- so I’ll go to that side and she will have bounced back to the other side. It only lasts a couple minutes, but it’s pretty fun. The other seems to be who can push the hardest. She’ll put her foot either up against my rib or just hold it out on my stomach and I’ll try to push back gently, but then she’ll resist and continue to push harder. She usually wins that one :)

I’m so excited to have her here soon!

So neat. Stories for the baby book. So, does this mean that she’ll be stubborn – pushing against you and all? Cute, cute, cute!
