Baby Showers Are For Girls

So we spent Saturday evening at the baby shower, that Catherine so thoughtfully decided would be for boys too. Turns out it was me.. and one other boy. Reminder: Baby showers are for girls.

Now it was entertaining enough–I didn’t have a bad time–but I was reminded the real reason why these things are just for girls. I spent the evening being reminded that I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing or what I need for a baby!

We played baby bingo, which requires each player to write down baby items on the squares of a grid. Later the presents are unwrapped and called out based on the gifts that are opened.  I ran out of ideas about the time I wrote down diapers.  Apparently, if I was left to my own devices, this baby would end up without, well, pretty much everything she needs.

Thanks to everyone that gave us everything besides diapers.   At least the baby’ll have that much.  I’ll do my best to remember he diapers and we just might be set.

Don’t forget the wipes! We couldn’t survive without them . . . . and just when you don’t think you need them anymore – you realize that you’re dependent – because you use them for everything else . . . including wiping your own butt – yeah – I said it – hey, they are soft!!!! If you served a mission in a 3rd world country . . . . you know all about poop – and wipes are the cure! (Happy wiping Christer!) – Ha!

Christer, you’ve got it all wrong. You see babies don’t actually need anything at all. Give ‘em some breast milk and wrap ‘em in a blanket and they will be just fine. Diapers are a good bonus though, but pretty much all of the rest of it is just crap. Not that you won’t use it, but you don’t need it as far as I am concerned. The whole baby industry is a racket. Buying kids clothes that they will only wear once or twice and it costs more than our clothing does–what a joke. It drives me nuts.
