A Little Bit ‘O Politickin’

So yesterday was Super-Duper Tuesday with the primaries going on. I’m out of town so I didn’t vote, although I don’t know that I would have anyway were I actually in town. I don’t have a whole lot of faith in our system anyway… but that’s another story.

Since all the excitement of yesterday I thought I’d drop my thoughts in here about the presidential candidates. I think we’re going to end up with Barack Obama as president. Here’s why:

None of the republican candidates are going to make it. McCain and Huckabee are cheaters (after the little deal they made yesterday I can’t vote for either of them and neither should you). Face it, Romney isn’t going to win either. I know many of you reading this probably love him because he’s mormon, but I’m just trying to be realistic. …and we don’t want Hillary in office so who does that leave? Obama.

Now I’m actually not dissappointed in that outcome so far. From the things I’ve read he sounds like he’s not much of a politician (and everyone knows how much we like politicians). He seems to have his head on pretty straight. Seems like I agree with him on many of the issues too. How ’bout that.. up until yesterday I didn’t really care. Today I don’t really care much more, but if someone were to ask me I’d at least have an answer.

So there you have it. And now back to our regularly scheduled programming.

I can’t say that I agree 100% about Obama not being a politician–as he has never held a job that wasn’t directly or closely related to politics–but I do agree that he is a good candidate. I may not agree with him 100% on all the issues, but this really is a situation of picking the lesser evil. He isn’t perfect, but he seems like a decent guy with some good ideas and I would probably prefer him to anyone else left in the race. Don’t tell Dad that some of his kids are thinking of voting for a democrat. He might lose it.
