It’s a Different World In Las Vegas

So I’m teaching in Las Vegas this week and I’ve got a bit of culture shock.  I know, Vegas is only a 22 minute flight (seriously, go look up departure and arrival times), but its still different.

As a non-smoker, non-gambler I really don’t know what to do with myself down here.  Staying in a regalar hotel-casino (I think everything down here is a casino) that takes up 5 city blocks and is all extravagent.. yet regular fancy people don’t seem to come down here.  Its regular people that want to feel fancy it seems… and a lot of old people.  I’m really glad that social security is paying grandmas slot addiction.

The hotel is not bad though.  The training center is not bad.  I think I’m going to spend the bulk of my time sitting in my hotel reading a few books.  I bought a few books last week in Houston and have yet to finish them.  I’ll leave the sins of the city downstairs and read a book instead.
