President Elect – Barack Obama
by catI just want to write to tell everyone how I feel. I am so excited for the new President of the United States. Many of you know that Christer and I have supported Obama since the very beginning, not because of the party he represents, but because of what he stands for and who he is.
Last night we spent part of the election race with family. We were cheering for different opponents and you could really feel the tension and upset as they realized that Obama was going to win. I just want to say this to all of you who are upset as well-
Obama is the new President of the United States. The people of the nation came out in record numbers and voiced their opinion. The United States of America is a nation that was created “Under God” and I believe that we are still that nation and we will become the nation that we once were; a nation that is a leader of the world, a nation of strong people that will come together despite your redness or blueness. We are the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA- one nation under God.
Please click on the link above if you have not seen his speech from last night. You will really feel his greatness and he will inspire you with hope!
Congratulations on the success of your candidate. (Just so you know, the video says it is no longer available.) I have mixed feelings about the whole thing, as you know. I am very grateful that the majority of the nation has finally come to a place where race no longer is a barrier. What a huge blessing that is! I will be watching carefully from this point on to see if he truly will try to be the president of all the people and lead from the center, able to compromise with both left and right. He is extraordinary in many ways and full of promise. I hope we will not be disappointed.
I hope you’re right, Cat!
