Coldness

I’ve been meaning to write a post dedicated to Addison and her 9 month birthday last week but life has just been crazy… So I’m sorry this is a little late Addison- I didn’t forget :)

Addison is growing like crazy! She had her first PB&J sandwich a couple of days ago and LOVED IT! She showed me a sign that I had been trying to teach her while she was eating. She can make all kinds of noises- you name it, she can probably do it. She loves to gargle her milk at bedtime. SHe is using furniture to walk around- not very fast, but she’s moving ;) She loves watching Curious George and Sesame Street. She is really a smart baby and I don’t think I’m saying that because I’m her mom- She’s got the beautiful eyes that light up and make your day. I just love her so much!

Today we decided to get out of the house and go for a walk even though it looked really cold outside. This picture is the “BEFORE” The purple coat is actually a Christmas gift- I’m glad she won’t care!

The pink snow had is actually one of mine (or my younger sisters)- talk about true vintage!

This next picture is the “AFTER” it was so cold out that her mouth froze to the tray!

…OK, OK her mouth really didn’t freeze to it, but I thought that might be funny :) She was in that position most of the time and so I thought she fell asleep like that! It wasn’t until we got to the door of our house did she start talking and I knew was just chewing on whatever she could get her hands on!

Edwards Baby #2 Coming Soon

I went to the dr’s today and it’s official- I’m 6 weeks and 1 day along in this adventure. Dr. Farley came into the room after the nurse did her stuff and said, “You’ve got to be kidding!” I laughed and reminded him that I did so well with Addison that he said I could come back anytime so I thought I’d take him up on it. He laughed and told me that when he got my file from the nurse he thought they were pulling a prank on him. LOL

I got to hear the heartbeat today with Addison. The due date is July 19, 2009. If this one is anything like his sister than I can expect him to be a little early. If he actually comes 3 weeks early ( that’s how early Addison was) than they will officially be 16 months apart… deep breath.

I am really excited to have another addition to our family. I know it will be challenging with them being so close in age at times but I hope that I can teach them to truly be the best of friends and to look out for each other. This one has something he has to do on this timeline and who am I to try to postpone it… :)

Our Little Punk

It’s so fun playing with Addison in the bath. I love to play with what little hair she has and so far I can make it into a mohawk. Christer and I joke that she’s going to be a punk and we should paint her finger nails black and get a rub on tattoo… How innocent babies are :)

This next one is a great one to show off her two little teeth!

Test trials on humans in a year…

I saw this on msnbc tonight and I am VERY excited! They also mentioned that the mice given the treatment that went into “remission” aka cured- only took the medicine for a few months. I found this webpage that explains it all…

Two cancer drugs prevent, reverse type 1 diabetes, UCSF study shows

Two common cancer drugs have been shown to both prevent and reverse type 1 diabetes in a mouse model of the disease, according to research conducted at the University of California, San Francisco. The drugs – imatinib (marketed as Gleevec) and sunitinib (marketed as Sutent) – were found to put type 1 diabetes into remission in 80 percent of the test mice and work permanently in 80 percent of those that go into remission.

The findings may offer a new weapon against this autoimmune disease, formerly called juvenile-onset diabetes, for which few drugs have been developed to address the underlying causes, the lead scientists say.

“There are very few drugs to treat type 1 diabetes, especially after disease onset, so this benefit, with a drug already proven to be safe and effective in cancer patients, is very promising,” said Jeffrey Bluestone, PhD, director of the Diabetes Center at UCSF and an expert in the study of autoimmunity. “The fact that the treated mice maintained normal blood glucose levels for some time after the drug treatment was stopped suggests that imatinib and sunitinib may be ‘reprogramming’ their immune systems in a permanent way.” Continue reading

Our Morning Walks

It’s so cold, yet so nice outside now. Addison and I love to go for walks except that I realized the other day that we haven’t gotten her a good coat yet so I had to bundle her up as much as I could.  I think she looks like an old lady- It’s pretty funny!

President Elect – Barack Obama

I just want to write to tell everyone how I feel. I am so excited for the new President of the United States. Many of you know that Christer and I have supported Obama since the very beginning, not because of the party he represents, but because of what he stands for and who he is.

Last night we spent part of the election race with family. We were cheering for different opponents and you could really feel the tension and upset as they realized that Obama was going to win. I just want to say this to all of you who are upset as well-

Obama is the new President of the United States. The people of the nation came out in record numbers and voiced their opinion. The United States of America is a nation that was created “Under God” and I believe that we are still that nation and we will become the nation that we once were; a nation that is a leader of the world, a nation of strong people that will come together despite your redness or blueness. We are the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA- one nation under God.

Please click on the link above if you have not seen his speech from last night. You will really feel his greatness and he will inspire you with hope!

Big Milestone!

Today Addison’s first tooth poke through her gums! She is growing so fast and has such a fun personality. She is going to be crawling anyday now but I have a feeling she’ll quickly be on to walking.

She LOVES playing in her “play-pen”

Here are some pictures of Halloween. Addison was a witch, Christer was a cheesy detective and I.. I don’t know exactly what I was- but we had A LOT of fun!
